Hung in the air on rope and painted on a hollow-core door, this painting is an exploration of both the wood-grain led technique I am enamored by and the role of man-made constructs in the chance experiences that lead my intuitive paintings. The surface is a hollow-core door, but it was also the table of a fellow painting major, and carried the scars of spilled paint and outlined paper to prove it. It was these man-made beacons of chance that acted as guidance, alongside the woodgrain and my own imagination, to create the forms that have emerged.
